The article presents the creation of the first university group of robotics skills and research at the Technological Univer- sity (UTEC), called Urubots. Based on the experiences of foreign teachers in robotics competitions and a possible insertion of Uruguay in Latin American and global Robocup robotics competitions, there is the main motivation for the creation of the group. The profile of the group members, main projects in development, their recognitions so far and future projects are presented.
